Backfill

Reinforced Earth structures are usually constructed using granular backfill conforming to Class 6I or Class 6J of the Specification for Highway Works.

We can provide advice on the use of backfills that are outside the specification Class 6I or Class 6J fills.

 

For structures with steel soil reinforcement the electro-chemical properties of the backfill must comply with the specification to ensure the long-term durability of the structure.

Where backfills do not comply with these requirements we can offer a solution using our synthetic GeoStrap soil reinforcement.
